Antalya

Because of its archaeological and natural riches, Antalya is called as “the Turkish Riviera”. Sea, sun and history all merge together in an enchanting harmony here where you can find the gorgeous and clean beaches of the Mediterranean Sea. The 630-km shoreline of Antalya has ancient cities and harbours, sepulchres and beautiful caves, sandy beaches, lush forests and rivers.

Manavgat

The town Manavgat, which is 76 km far from the province Antalya, lies on both sides of the River Manavgat. The city center is 4 km far from the shore of the Mediterranean Sea. The northern part of the town is surrounded by the Taurus Mountains covered with beautiful forests. The river Manavgat, which flows through the town, gives the territory fertility and richness. The other natural beauties of the region in the south are the Sorgun Forest with pine trees and the lake “Titreyengöl”, which was formed by alluviums that fill the delta of the River Manavgat.

Side

Side can be reached from Antalya-Manavgat highway by turning south 2 km. before Manavgat. The name of Side means “Pomegranate” in Anatolia. The ruins and many waterways that carry water from the outskirts of the Taurus Mountains can be seen from nearby cities. An old bath has been turned into a museum. Other artefacts are displayed in this museum. The most important structure in Side is its theatre with a capacity of 15,000 spectators. Some of the structures worthy of seeing in Side are the Columned Road, the Triumphal Arch, the Harbour, the Baths, the Temples, the Fountains, the Water Cisterns, the Waterways, and the Agora.

Aspendos

At a 38-km distance from Side, Aspendos Theatre was built in the 2nd century with a capacity of 17,000 people. It is now used for various occasions such as concerts, festivals and oil wrestling. There are some other structures worthy of seeing in Aspendos such as Agora, Basilica and the arched waterways reaching up to 15 km long.

Alarahan

Alarahan is located within the area called Pamphilia. It is in Okurcalar town, Alanya district in the borders of Çakallar Village. As you are driving from Alanya towards Antalya, there is an Alarahan turn at 30 km. When you drive 9 km. inwards, you can encounter the “Historical Alarahan” which incidentally has given its name to the area. Alarahan is one of few “multi-functional historical places” with natural beauties and commercial area in a forest. Alara Bastion and Alara Brook create a natural museum.

Perge

It is located between Düden and Aksu Rivers18 km. east of Antalya. Turn north from Aksu on the highway and you will arrive Perge after 2 km. Some of its places worthy of seeing are Agora Gates, Nymphaeum, and the Columned Street, Church and the Acropolis.

Köprülü Kanyon

Northeast of Antalya, taking the turn off for Tasagil and Beskonak, is scenic route that leads to the 14-km Köprülü Canyon National Park. The road criss-crosses mountains and clean river and passes through virgin forests and rippling waterfall. Reaching the park, 92 km from Antalya, you will encounter a valley of wild beauty rich in flora and fauna. The canyon stretches towards 14- km the Köprü River and it has a depth of 400 meters in some places. Those seeking adventure will be interested in nature sports and rafting. At the rest area, there are fish restaurants offering delicious tastes.
